Fourth Avenue Autos – MOT and Servicing
Car and Van MOT Tests in Radstock
As a class 4 MOT test centre, we can inspect your car, small van or taxi to make sure it passes the legal standards. You’re required to have an MOT test carried out on your vehicle every year if it’s three years old. The testing standards are set by the DVSA and our testers inspect a whole list of components to make sure your car is safe to be on the road.
The MOT mechanics at Fourth Avenue Autos are fully trained and qualified to test your vehicle. They’re approved by the DVSA to carry out the inspections and understand what is required of them. All major mechanical, electrical and safety components of the vehicle are tested, which takes around an hour to complete. If your car fails the MOT test for any reason, we can do all the repair work and re-test. This means that you’ll be able to drive off safely with an MOT pass.
Of course, we don’t ever do any work without your approval so if you do fail then we’ll talk you through what work needs to be done. We’ll give you a quote for the repairs and once you’ve approved them we’ll start the work.
All Levels of Servicing
As well as MOT tests, we also do car and van servicing. Whether you’re looking for an interim, full or major service, we can do them all. It doesn’t matter what make or model your car is, we’ll be able to carry out a service that will have your car running like new.
An interim service is recommended every 5,000 miles or six months. If you use your car a lot, it can be beneficial to have this type of service done as it will help to keep your car running properly. We’ll do an oil change, replace your filters and check your brakes, wheels and tyres.
A full service is normally conducted once a year or 12,00 miles, often at the same time as your MOT test. This covers further checks on your coolants, brake fluid and radiator as well as checking all the major parts of your car.
A major service is recommended every two years or 24,000 miles, in order to maintain components that have a longer lifespan. Typically, parts like your starter motor and spark plugs last for many miles of motoring and a major service is a chance to inspect these and replace them if necessary.
